I received this as a gift to accompany my new Garmin Etrex Vista, and have really enjoyed using it. Clipping onto your belt loop makes reference very easy while walking about geocaching. (I suggest loading the device so the clip is at the bottom of your GPS — which means that it hangs upside down from your belt loop, but when you want to reference it, you simply hold it flat w/o unclipping from you belt. Believe it or not, it took me a couple of days to figure that out…and I even have a college degree!)
Downsides:
Not easy to load into the carrying case. It’s very snug, which is great for security while carrying, but is a pain if you take it in/out a lot.
The clip is not very strong. After only 2 months of use the clip’s hinge is already weak. I’m going to need to replace it soon, but carabiner clips are cheap and abundant at local hardware stores, so I don’t consider this a “deal breaker”.
I have 2 different carrying cases (the other is a belt-clip clear-front model) and this is definitely the superior (and cheaper!) I completely and unabashedly recommend this carrying case for your Garmin Etrex — and you can quote me on that!
